Quick  Cheese  Biscuits

 

 

 

 

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups buttermilk baking mix

2/3 cup milk

1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese   

2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

 

 

 

DIRECTIONS:

 

Preheat oven to 475 degrees.  

 

In a bowl, stir in the biscuit mix, milk and cheese just until moistened.

 

Drop by tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet.

 

Mix butter and garlic powder; brush over biscuits.

 

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.

 

Serve warm.

Chive  Cheese  Biscuits

 

 

 

 

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups all-purpose flour

3 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

1/2 cup shortening

3/4 cup milk

1/3 cup snipped chives

 

 

 

DIRECTIONS:

 

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  

 

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt.

 

Cut in cheese and shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

 

Stir in milk and chives until moistened.

 

Turn onto a lightly floured surface; gently knead 8 to 10 times.

 

Roll to 3/4-inch thickness; cut with a 2-1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

 

Place on an ungreased baking sheet.

 

Bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

 

Serve warm.

Cheddar  Biscuits

 

 

 

 

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup self-rising flour * 

1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

1/2 cup milk

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

 

*  As a substitute for 1 cup of self-rising flour, place 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder

and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a measuring cup.   Add all-purpose flour to measure 1 cup.



DIRECTIONS:

 

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  
 

In a small bowl, combine the flour and cheese.

 

Stir in milk and mayonnaise just until moistened.

 

Fill five greased muffin cups two-thirds full.

 

Fill empty muffin cups halfway with water.

 

Bake 17-20 minutes or until golden brown.
